I've worked 9 of the last 10 days. Tomorrow is my first day off since Last Saturday. I fit in a lot this last week. Here are some highlights...

Since I worked late on my birthday Saturday, we went out mini golfing Monday night. Afterwards we went to a 50's diner for milkshakes where they surprised me with a gift certificate for Ikea! Tomorrow, on my first day off in over a week, I think Lauren and I are going to Ikea so I can finally furnish my room!

Speaking of Lauren, she called me yesterday saying that her brother is heading off to college and her parents were going to be getting rid of a bed. So they dropped that off at 7:30am and I slept the rest of the morning, till I had to work, on a matress. I now have a matress!
Saturday I worked a Wedding in Malibu. Sunday I worked a Bar Mitzvah in Augora Hills. Monday through Wednesday I worked 9am to 6pm in the Pepperdine scene shop building sets for their Winter musical Damn Yankees. Thursday I worked a memorial service in Beverly Hills. Then yesterday... YESTERDAY!!! Bebo Norman, a Christian artist played a concert in Smothers Theatre at Pepperdine. I clocked in at 9am and clocked out at 1:15am! I worked over a 16 hour day!!! It was fun though. I was stage crew, helping their crew set up for the show by unloading the truck, setting up their light towers, running cables, and whatever other odd jobs that needed to be done. Load out went a lot quicker.

Today, I recieved my new matress from the Lewis' at 7:15, slept till Noon, got ready for work and left at 2:45pm. Worked another wedding at the Malibu Lake House, got home at Midnight and watched the rest of Saturday Night Live with Jason. I'm going to bed now. WOOO!!!! Hold on... As I've been working on this post, I've been watching music videos and I just saw a new one by Weird Al! NOW I can go to bed knowing that Weird Al has a new album coming soon. Sweet.

So I just finished my first day of catering, literally about a half hour ago. The final number of guests was around 890, and some of the speakers at the event included former California Governor Gray Davis, Producer / former Journey saxophonist / American Idol judge Randy Jackson (who I can't stand and was a terrible speaker), and my personal favorite Harland Williams. You may remember Williams from such classics as Rocketman, Half Baked, There's Something About Mary, doing a stand-up routine, or from one of his many appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Yeah, that made my night, and the fact that I ate close to my weight in chocolate and chocolate covered gooseberries (the owner of the catering company was very excited in telling me they are a rarity, and you know you're at a classy place if they serve them with dessert. Whatever, they were awesome though, I had maybe 2 dozen of them. Hundreds were thrown away.) When the event was dying down, they let us eat what was left, which were full plates of beef and I couldn't tell you what else. Megan, Stef and Stef's sister Abbi helped me out in answering all my annoying questions and lending me an apron till I get mine tomorrow. It was pretty easy work. The hardest part was trying to get everyone their food quickly before it cooled down. The line to and insind the kitchen was extreamly hectic. It'll be interesting to see the differences between this company and Truely Yours, the company I'm working for this Saturday and Sunday. I found out that my call Sunday isn't till 4:30, so I can still go to church. I also got a call from Rick in the Fine arts department at Pepperdine asking if I could work Monday and Tuesday all day in the theater. Then, on the drive to work today, David called and asked if I could work next Friday in the Theater as well! He said it's a christian artist, but didn't know who, so that should be fun. But I'm getting a lot of work now which is a huge answer to prayers.
Yesterday was a fun day too. Jason and I helped Megan and Nina move their new fridge from some girl's apartment. Then we got lunch at Baja Fresh on Ventura and saw Marlon Waynes. Nina and I ran some errands then I helped her finish painting her room. Yup, all that painting this summer came in handy Nate! Speaking of Nate, he called me and broke the news that the guy we hated the most won Rockstar: Supernova. That almost ruined my day, but I finished with two episodes of Lost.
And all was right with the world...

Harland Williams. I took a picture of him on the podium, but it was too bright to show up on my camera phone.

So it's been a couple of weeks, I'll try to hit all of the highlights. I've really still just been hanging out with people till work starts, which is Thursday! Where once I was worried work would not start soon enough, I now have my pick at two catering jobs! Last Thursday I was scheduled for this up coming Saturday and Sunday by the company my roomate Jason works for. And now today I was contacted by a company called "The Kitchen For Exploring Foods" asking if I could work Thursday. And this is a big event too; 800 - 1,000 people for a dinner on Melrose! It's great because my friends Stefanie and Megan are both going to be working that event, so I'll have some help on my first day, which I'm told can be a little crazy. This all comes at a very good time, I spent all day going back and forth between 4 different DMV locations to get my registration and plates. But that's all taken care of now, one less thing to worry about! Saturday we went to the beach for the first time since we moved in. They burried me in the sand with my face pointed directly at the sun. Thankfully I wasn't burned too bad, it never hurt. I won't be burried again, at least for a while. Tonight we finally start the second season of Lost; we've been waiting till Megan and Scher finished first season, which they did last night. We've been very patient, waiting since we bought it the day it came out last Tuesday. Tomorrow Brian, Adam and I are heading to Best Buy first thing in the morning to buy the 5th season of Smallville and proceeding to watch as many episodes as possible to get ready for the new season. As you can tell, we have certain commitments to our stories. I'm really excited to start work though. I don't feel like I've wasted any time or anything, but it's just time to start working, you know?
Oh yeah, I 'stumbled' upon something that made me smile on my way out of my final DMV destination.
